Treatment Methodology
Upon admission to the Gambling Program at
the KeyStone Center, each patient is evaluated using the
South Oaks Gambling screen. Each patient is assigned to
a primary therapist and oriented to the facility. The Gambling Program is combined with the Intensive Inpatient Program or STSP to to work the steps of Addiction and Recovery. At the
time of the initial assessment by the Case Manager, all
individuals who are to be involved in the patient’s
treatment are identified. KeyStone incorporates the Primary
Therapist, the Gambling Specialist, Psychological and Psychiatric
staff, Addiction Physician and Nursing staff, Dietitian,
and the Aftercare Specialist as our internal treatment team.
For the patients admitted to the Gambling Program, also
included are the family member(s), EAP and/or employer referent,
and any others invested in the treatment and recovery of
the patient. Finally, our Certified Gambling Specialist
will begin at once to work with each patient on a program
of financial action using specific, step-by-step methods.
Using the most current, state of the art Relapse
Prevention strategies, including Cognitively Focused Relapse
Prevention and Life Style Imbalance, the Gambling Program
at the KeyStone Center facilitates a proactive approach
to Relapse Prevention that instills a sense of autonomy
and personal competency in each patient. Each topic is actively
addressed by the patients –meaning concrete plans
are created in each session and put together as pieces to
a holistic after care strategy.
Spirituality is an important component to
all of our programs. All efforts are made to help individuals
re-connect with their spirituality, which is so often lost
when they are in the grip of addiction.
